Doesn't everybody want their very own ornithology collection of Smithsonian proportion?
Holly Dormor is a Sydney based textile artist.
Her series of bird sculpture explores the human tendency to bring the outdoors in... to admire, examine and display the natural world.
Drawing on her interest in zoological 'dry' collections, Dormor's birds are presented in their resting state, imbued with quiet, contemplative sensibility.
All sculptures are constructed entirely by hand and without the use of adhesives. Materials vary from felted fabric, leather, copper wire, waxed cotton, silks and stone.
Dormor has a BA in Culture and Communication and studied at The National Art School in Sydney.
Her work is available exclusively at Linda Gregoriou's Pure and General.
